Hello everyone. Welcome back to my weekly participation in the ZapFic50 Friday. @felt.buzz and the Freewriters Community bring you a new microfiction format for your freewriting. This new ZapFic50 Friday challenge tests our ability to construct as near complete a story as we can using exactly 50 words.
The challenge starts on Fridays. It's a great writing opportunity over the weekend using various prompts as your guide.
In this 12th week's writing prompt "slam", I address the concept of competition. Being competitive can be a positive experience. How does one determine when it's gone too far?
I leave below my wordcounter screenshot showing the 50-word count for my 12th ZapFic50 Friday story:

Guests will be arriving shortly.
Exposing clinched teeth, Gabe checked the list while lamenting last week's defeat.
Wife's best party spread on the counter. Drinks chilling in the fridge. Smokes waiting.
Gabe pulled out his maneuvers' cheat sheet; then sat, grinning.
Slick Willie is gonna get a good snookering tonight.

If you'd like to participate, check out this week's official ZapFic50 Friday post: The weekend is coming so that can only mean one thing... it's #ZapFic50Friday! Write me a story in precisely 50 words!:
RULES:
Post to the Freewriters Community.
Use #freewritehouse and #zapfic tags.
Please use a word/character counter (if you search for word counter on the internet or in your phone's app store you will get a big choice!) wordcounter.net and include a screenshot. This makes it easier for you and @feltbuzz!
Use the prompt provided as you see fit (use your imagination)
You have the weekend (until Sunday 23h59 GMT) to write a story in precisely 50 words (no more, no less than 50!) using the prompt given.
Try to tell a complete story if you can!
The story should be precisely 50 words long (use a word counter to check!).

Thanks,
@justclickindiva
Happy rest of the week everyone with whatever your endeavors.
